Since the first publication of the Global Coal Exit List in 2017, Urgewald e.V. has been providing the most comprehensive database on the global coal industry including companies driving the expansion of coal. Between then and now, asset managers, banks and insurance companies alike have been using GCEL data to design and implement robust exclusion criteria for their climate policies. By means of transparent, meaningful criteria, GCEL offers financial institutions a reliable source of data, which is regularly being updated to take the companies’ most current information and reports into account.
